Happy New Year! We hope you’re enjoying a successful start to 2017! There’s something so special about January. We always feel renewed and ready to start again on January 1, and we hope you took time to rest during the holidays as well.
Last year started with one of our most exciting weddings of the year – Carrie and Mike’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Their exquisite wedding day landed on the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings, which was a huge honor and a major moment of celebration. We also visited one of our most-loved venues, the Horticulture Center, more times than we have in any other year as our couples realized what we learned long ago – it’s one of the city’s greatest gems. We traveled throughout Philadelphia, the suburbs, and New Jersey as we planned, and we watched as features went live on Green Wedding Shoes, Style Me Pretty, and more. Plus, we caught so many moments on Instagram, too. Without a doubt, 2016 was one for the books!
Though we can’t reveal too much yet, we can say 2017 will hold more traveling for our team as we design and plan weddings in further away places. Plus, we have a feeling more features are on the horizon as this year’s weddings shape up to be some of our most beautiful yet!
January is filled with meetings and preparing for our spring wedding season to kick off in the coming weeks. We’re thrilled to visit friends such as Chick Invitations, Love ‘n Fresh Flowers, Maggpie Vintage Rentals, and Party Rentals LTD. Plus, we have more meetings scheduled with clients at La Peg, The Logan Hotel (keep reading for more about them below!), Merion Cricket Club, Morris House Hotel, and Indian River Marina in Lewes, Delaware. Of course, our planning season would not be complete without The Horticulture Center, so be prepared to see more fabulous celebrations there too! And, we will be getting a sneak peek at a new venue, the Museum of the American Revolution, so be sure to keep following along on Instagram!
P.S.: We have just a few dates available for 2017 before we begin to only accept dates for 2018. Are you newly engaged? Send us a note!
In the News: While attending a conference, Aliza struck up a conversation with Jared’s mom thinking she was one of the speakers. Instead, she learned his mom was an attendee just like she was, and she had a son Aliza simply had to meet! The two did end up meeting, and it became clear A+J were absolutely meant to be. We absolutely loved working with these two and their families to plan their incredible wedding day at the Horticulture Center. Aliza wore a lovely Oscar de la Renta gown, while her bridesmaids wore red lace dresses from J. Crew. Sullivan Owen designed some of our favorite bouquets to date, plus Sullivan and her team designed the chuppah used for the pair’s outdoor evening ceremony. Post vows, DJ Jon Gill kept guests on the dance floor, and everyone enjoyed Whipped Bakeshop’s delicious cake later in the evening. You must see all of the photos captured by Alison Conklin, along with the video by Merryweather Films!
Now Trending:During the final weeks of each year, Pantone announces the Color of the Year for the following 365 days. This year, Greenery received the nod. Per Pantone, they describe Greenery as, “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.” We love how this color perfectly reflects all of the meaning behind a wedding! This shade can be paired with palettes ranging from pastels and neutrals to bright shades. Greenery is a wonderful choice for spring and summer soirees!
Q: Where are the best places to propose in Philadelphia?
A: One of our top choices is The Logan and their new proposal package, “Just Say Yes”. The package offers the proposal planner the option to choose between popping the question in one of The Logan’s suites, a private area on the rooftop deck, or hopping in a helicopter for a tour of the city that leads back to the hotel. Wine pairings, dinner, an engagement party, and a photographer capturing the entire night can also be on the docket too!
Around Town: We’re often asked about the best places to host a rehearsal dinner, and we have a new location to add to our list: Di Bruno Brothers! You’re able to host your rehearsal dinner in their upstairs café, so start thinking about fresh pasta dishes, a cheese monger, and a great location right in the heart of Center City. Known for their baked goods and fine foods, plan to order your wedding day breakfast or lunch from them too!
