Elisabeth and Ethan’s April wedding day was one for the books! E+E were living abroad in Taiwan, where Ethan is originally from, throughout the duration of planning their Philadelphia wedding. We traded in person meetings for Skype chats, emails filled with photos and details, and a countdown until we would finally get to celebrate in person.
When considering places to wed, Pennsylvania was high on their list because it’s the state where Elisabeth is originally from. Philadelphia became a natural choice, especially when we introduced Elisabeth and Ethan to one of our favorite venues, The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. They both loved the natural elements of the space, especially the greenhouse where their ceremony was held, and the venue also served as a blank slate that could easily be filled with color.
Both Elisabeth and Ethan spent the morning getting ready at the Lokal Hotel. We’re asked often to share locations for couples to consider for their wedding morning, and the Lokal Hotel is an Old City hotel that has proven itself as a gem. The rooms are large and spacious, which means there is always plenty of room for brunch, hair, and makeup to take place simultaneously! Once they were ready, their first look took place on the streets of Old City before the bride, groom, wedding party, and family members migrated to The Horticulture Center. It was a great way to kick start a wonderful wedding day!
Once at the venue, Pat Robinson captured portraits of Elisabeth, Ethan, and their wedding party. With plenty of natural light and tons of carefully maintained foliage, the greenhouse always serves as a gorgeous location for photos. We also highly recommend capturing photos before guests arrive so everyone can jump right into cocktail hour once your ceremony is complete!
Elisabeth walked down the aisle on the arm of her father, and their ceremony was filled with laughter, crying, praying, and pure celebration. Their love story spanned three years and nine countries before they said, “We do!”, so it’s safe to say these two could not have been more thrilled to finally be husband and wife.
Inside their reception, Devon & Pinkett transformed the space with tons of bright florals. The installation above the head table was our favorite, and it served as a perfect focal point in the space. The florals were accented by pieces from Maggpie Vintage Rentals, lighting by Eventions Productions, and a cake and cupcake favors by Nutmug Cake Design. Guests dined on a menu designed by Starr Events before spending the night on the dance floor with Lovesick or in the Poser Photobooth (Elisabeth and Ethan made sure to capture photos in the photo booth too!).
Elisabeth and Ethan, we’re so honored we could plan your April wedding day! It was stunning, you both are so sweet and kind, and we wish you the absolute best as you continue your adventure in Boston!
