Over the years, we have experienced firsthand the power of social media. As you know, we’re always sharing sneak peeks of the weddings we’ve planned and styled on Instagram. When Flutter Social contacted us, we were thrilled to learn more about this social media platform specifically designed for the Philadelphia wedding industry.
Kaleigh and Marcie curate a lovely selection of real weddings on their site, and each one is carefully tagged with all of the wedding professionals involved. When you see a wedding you love, you can follow all of the wedding professionals who lent their talents. This allows your Flutter Social experience to be more personalized because you will see more weddings and work similar to those pros. It’s such a fun concept.
We jumped at the chance to join the Flutter Social community and learn more about how its founders, Kaleigh and Marcie, spend their days in today’s Styled Day from Kaleigh’s perspective!
7:30 – I start each morning with a quick 20-minute meditation. It centers me and helps me to stay focused throughout the day. While I am getting my Zen on, Marcie is fueling up on coffee and getting her two kids (Ben, 4 and Ella, 2) out the door for daycare and pre-school. We each respond to emails and put together our own list of things to discuss as a team.
9:00 – We head to Malvern Buttery to work for the day since we are meeting one of our Wedding Photographers there later, and we love all that natural light and the energizing atmosphere.
It’s Monday morning, so we kick things off with our strategy sesh. We go over our weekly performance analytics and set our priorities. This morning’s huddle takes several forms, but we typically cover three items from two perspectives – our couples and our wedding vendors: (1) customer feedback and needs, (2) technical development, and (3) marketing projects. I have a business and marketing background and Marcie is a problem-solving engineer so we approach things from different angles, which is helpful since we are constantly evolving based on what we learn from our Founding Members.
10:00 – From here I take the lead on the relationship focused to-do’s and Marcie addresses the technical needs.
I hop on a call with a new Member, Gab, who joined Flutter Social when her Photographer, With Love & Embers, shared a gorgeous wedding at Glen Foerd on the Delaware Wedding. We talk about her wedding planning experience, she gushes over her amazing Philadelphia wedding vendors and we go over how she can participate in the Flutter Social community as a newlywed. By the end of the call, she’s inviting her friends to follow her on Flutter Social to see her featured wedding and all the vendors she loved working with… and she’s agreed to drop some bridal wellness knowledge as a guest blogger – whether you are getting married or not, you’ll want to check out her piece, How to Manage Wedding Stress to be a Balance Bride.
Meanwhile, on the technical front, Marcie is Skyping with our Developers. She keeps everyone focused on quickly iterating based on what we’ve learned from the community the week before. They flip between screens of code and the development pipeline.
12:00 – We grab a quick bite to eat while we recap the morning and touch base on priority items.
1:00 – Marcie starts a Skype meeting with a Bride planning a Winter wedding. They are on the site walking through portfolios of local Floral Designers the Bride is following. We offer complimentary wedding concierge services to a select number of couples at a time so it sounds like they are talking through which of these professionals would be a good fit.
I post our most recently shared wedding on Instagram and tackle emails until our next meeting.
We personally meet with each of our Wedding Professionals so that we can build a relationship and feel confident in recommending them to our couples. It’s important that every Flutter Social Wedding Professional provides a high quality experience for all of our couples.
2:00 – Minh, of du soleil photographie, walks in and we get situated with a cup of coffee. We get to chatting about her business goals and what her ideal client looks like… I want to know everything so that I can make introductions to other vendors and couples who would benefit from knowing this amazing Philadelphia Wedding Photographer. My list of intros to make is growing longer and longer as our conversation goes on.
Minh pulls out her phone and starts following the Flutter Social Members that I want to introduce her to right on the spot. She’s excited about the networking power of Flutter Social and loves that her weddings are put in front of the collective Followers of the couple and vendors associated to the wedding because most of her business comes from referrals by past clients or other wedding professionals… it’s that whole “six degrees of separation” thing.
3:00 – Marcie joins us just in time for the Flutter Social walkthrough. We navigate through the site and share tips on how she can grow her network and market her real weddings –
- Follow Members to see what weddings they share and are a part of [both your friends and local wedding vendors]. The more Members you Follow, the more real weddings you’ll see when you login under, “My Inspiration.”
- Check out the Real Weddings page to get inspired and stay current on who’s who of the Philadelphia wedding scene. Every wedding shared showcases the full wedding through photos and videos and it’s all local and actionable since it’s tagged with the team that created it.
- Engage with the community – show some love or asks questions of the team on each wedding or send a private message to Members.
This is a great meeting – we’re excited when you’re excited.
4:00 – It’s been a busy day so there’s a lot of catching up to do. We spend the last couple hours of the business day following up on today’s meetings and working through our to-do’s.
6:00 – Time to hit the trails. I’m off to Harmony Hills for a nature run… it’s where I do my best thinking. Marcie heads home to spend time with her husband and kids.
9:00 – Just as soon as the house gets quiet Marcie gets her second wind – she’s known for her night moves. She’s responding to customer emails and deep into development.
Lots of great meetings means lots of follow-up for me. I’m on email for a bit before I shift into marketing mode. We are working with the best Wedding Vendors on some amazing opportunities for our Flutter Social couples planning a wedding in the Tri-State area… so, stay tuned!
12:00 – Bed. To be honest, this is a little on the early side these days – we keep saying we’ll get to bed earlier, but there are never enough hours in a day. We both keep the same schedule, so a late-night brainstorming session is never out of the question…
Thank you to The Styled Bride for letting us share our day and to du soleil photographie for photographing it. To see the gorgeous wedding work they both do make sure to Follow The Styled Bride and du soleil photographie on Flutter Social.
