In our last Styled Day with The Groomsman Suit, we hinted we would be back shortly with a follow up piece on a fellow wedding business who shares their Old City showroom. Today, we cannot wait for you to meet Hitched and Co-Founder, Stephanie Sammons!
Stephanie is a fellow Philadelphian, and she graduated from Penn State University with a degree in communications. Since, she has worked in agencies throughout the city, and she has even worked across the country as a Director of Marketing for a college in Newport Beach. Though she may not have dreamed she would one day own a wedding industry business, she and her husband, Chris, jumped in with both feet after they experienced a less than desirable time shopping for wedding bands before their destination wedding in Charleston. After their celebration, they decided to officially team up as business partners, and her marketing background paired with his technical background has proven to be a fantastic mix!
Before we encourage you to continue reading below to learn more about how Stephanie and Chris spend their days running Hitched, we wanted to share more about the brand they have built. Hitched is like the Warby Parker of wedding bands. Grooms can choose to add up to five wedding bands to their try on box, and the box will be shipped to their house with a ring sizer. Once grooms choose the style they love most, the process is simple: return the box (you have 5 days to complete the try on!), place your order online, and await your order which will arrive on your doorstep within a few business days.
We have loved getting to know Stephanie and Chris so far, so make sure to keep reading below to learn even more about them and Hitched!
Hitched is has under 5 employees, including myself and my husband and co-founder Chris, so needless to say our days are long and pretty chaotic! All order fulfillment for our online store is done in-house, so Mondays our Philadelphia showroom is closed to the public and dedicated to packing and shipping online orders. We also take the time Monday to catch up on customer inquiries as we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service! It takes us most of the day to complete these tasks, but we try to call it a day early to catch a 5pm Yoga Class. This allows us to clear our minds before the busy week to come.
Tuesday through Saturday our Philadelphia showroom is open for appointments from 11am – 6pm (varies by day), so around 10am we head out to complete our daily post office runs and arrive at the showroom by 10:30am to open up shop for the day. We strive to give our customers the best wedding band shopping experience. We seat our couples, provide them a beverage, size their finger, and bring over our entire wedding band collection in their ring size to try on at their leisure. A typical appointment lasts around 30 minutes, and once they have landed on a ring, we place their order and ship their wedding band to their homes within 6-8 business days. Sometimes we even allow our customers to walk out with the band of their choice that very same day!
When we are not working appointments, we are working on anything and everything else for the business: catching up on emails, restocking packaging and inventory, marketing campaigns and website updates, networking with local wedding professionals, and much more!
Finally, Sundays are our day off to relax and enjoy time with one another, family, friends and of course our rescue dog, Sammi (though you can catch her at the showroom on any given day!).
We can’t end our Styled Day with Stephanie and Hitched without sharing the team’s wedding favorites!
1. Top tip for grooms currently shopping for wedding bands?
Educate yourself on the different metals that are out there and pick a metal that best suits you. Looking for something classic and timeless? Go with 14K Gold. Or would you prefer something super durable? Tungsten might be for you. There are pros and cons to every metal, so you’ll want to know what those are before choosing a wedding band that’s meant to be worn forever.
2. Favorite Hitched band?
It’s so hard to say because they are all so different! If I had to pick out a new precious metal band for Chris, I’d probably go with the 14K Gold Classic 4mm in Yellow Gold. If I had to go with a non-precious metal, I’d maybe try the Tungsten Flat Brushed 6mm in Natural. Today, he has a 14K Gold Milgrain 6mm in White Gold.
3. Moment at a wedding?
The first dance (and obviously the ring exchange!)
Make sure to take a peek at the Hitched site, plan your gent’s home try-on, and visit the showroom to meet Stephanie, Chris, and the Hitched team (and The Groomsman Suit team too!).
