At almost every wedding, we’re always eager to see the bride’s wedding dress. We’ve often spent months planning and designing with our couples, so it’s always a treat to witness the bride revealing her wedding dress to her family and bridesmaids for the first time. We love hearing about how she found her dress and the designer she chose to design it, as well as the trends she has chosen to embrace on her wedding day. Once we’ve seen the dress and accessories and all of the ways they match the bride’s personality and personal style perfectly, we can never imagine her wearing anything else!
Our 2019 wedding season is well underway so we’ve seen quite a few wedding dresses already this season. But, we never turn down an opportunity to view more and talk about the latest trends! When we saw Modern Luxury Weddings Philadelphia were viewing all of the latest gowns from the top designers in personal during Bridal Market or Bridal Fashion Week in April, we knew we had to ask them more questions about their experience. Below, ML Publisher Olivia Falcione and Editor Alana Tosti reveal their top three trends, which collection they adore the most, accessories they think will trend, and so much more.

What are the top three trends you saw and loved from April’s 2019 Bridal Market?
Olivia: Floral details, capes and bows.
Alana: Billowy sleeves, gowns in shades of blue and jackets! Oh, and pearls!

Which collection received your vote as the best?
Olivia and Alana: It’s so hard to pick the best because they are all so special in their own way — and speak to so many different styles of brides! The beautiful details in the Ines di Santo collection and the asymmetrical and intricate gowns from Vera Wang stood out to us, but honestly, we love something from every single collection we saw.

What three new designers are you excited to watch?
Olivia and Alana: We had our eye on Danielle Frankel when she launched in 2017 —we covered her editorially—and are still watching her! She’s starting to produce ready-to-wear looks for less traditional brides who may want to find something just a few months before the big day.

Veils, capes, headpieces – which accessory do you think will trend?
Olivia and Alana: Headpieces are definitely the new veil – specifically headbands. You’re going to see a lot more brides trading that traditional look for something that shows off more of their style.
Alana: Fun fact – I wore a headband instead of a veil on my wedding day ten years ago! So excited to see this trend takeoff.

What is your favorite part of your Bridal Market experience overall?
Olivia: We love having the front row views of the shows, but love feeling the excitement and feedback from our friends and followers back in Philadelphia.
Alana: My favorite part is seeing how bridal looks are a reflection of the times and the ever-evolving way we are celebrating weddings each season. Spring 2020 is modern without excluding the traditional. You can say “I do” in an ivory suit or minidress with a headband— or walk down the aisle in a classic ballgown. It’s always fun to see what designers will do next!
