Kelly and Mike first met in high school in 2005. It was during the time when AIM was the way everyone chose to communicate, and K+M were among the site’s (many!) fans. She asked him why they never talked in person, so he made sure to stop by her locker the following day. They eventually lost touch as Kelly left to attend college, but their relationship would only pick up again the following year.
After Kelly’s sister passed away in 2006, she noticed Mike had attended the memorial service while reading through the names in the guest book. K+M wouldn’t start dating until 2010, but Kelly says the moment she saw Mike’s name was the moment she fell in love with him.
They’ve been in a band, traveled, and moved to Philadelphia with their cat, Billie. They adopted another cat, Kevin, they got engaged at their home, and they can now add “got married” to their ever-evolving list of things they’ve done together. And, theirs was one of the most personalized, whimsical weddings we planned in 2018!
Kelly and Mike knew they wanted to welcome their family and friends to a space that held meaning to them, so they quickly chose New Liberty Distillery. The working distillery is one of their favorite places to gather with friends, especially because it’s located moments away from their home, so it was a natural choice!
The pair are drawn to color and edgy, whimsical style, and they personalized the space beautifully. K+M were married in front of an organic floral arch designed by Texture, and Kelly and her bridesmaids carried bright red bouquets. Kelly’s dad walked her down the aisle, Mike’s brother officiated, and Kelly wore the coolest personalized leather jacket post-wedding. Plus, the couple LOVE their cats. A cat welcome sign with both of their cats dressed up as a bride and groom was a necessity, and custom signage continued the cat theme thanks to Hello, Bird.
Guests enjoyed cocktails outside in the courtyard where K+M recited their vows before being welcomed inside by Kelly’s father. Inside, guests were greeted by a dance floor complete with a balloon arch backdrop, balloons to toss throughout the night, and plenty of bright florals all designed by Texture. Not only did Cake Life bake the pair’s cake, but they provided custom cat cookies too at Kelly’s mom’s request as a surprise to the couple. DJ Chris Ward kept the third-floor dancing throughout the entire night
K+M’s wedding was fun and personalized, and we are thrilled to share the photos Love Me Do captured with you!
