The Styled Note – Summer 2018

Happy summer to you! As promised, the Styled Note is back once again for a quarterly update! The last time we checked in, our spring wedding season was well underway. We were in the middle of planning weddings in the city and just outside, plus we had upcoming soirees in Maryland and Delaware. We’re happy to report all of our late spring and early summer weddings went off without a hitch, and we’ve been enjoying the brief pause that happens in the middle of the summer every year before our late summer and early fall season kicks off!

We find so much value in videography, especially because cinematographers allow you to relieve your day with movement, music, and voices. When each of our spring couples shared their wedding videos online, we made sure to re-share them with you! Kate and Jason’s Maryland soiree was a stunner (their wedding will be featured online next week, so stay tuned!), Tiffany and Jim’s Horticulture Center soiree captured by New Pace Wedding Films was filled with energy, Julie and Jeff’s celebration at The Logan featured classic elegance thanks to Garrity Powers’ video, and Elizabeth and Christopher’s CinemaCake video was a recent favorite from Hotel Dupont. Pour a cup of coffee (or wine!) and watch each and every one of these beautiful films.

We also had the joy of experiencing a new magazine’s launch this summer! Modern Luxury Weddings is now calling Philadelphia home, and we’re honored Monica and Andrew’s Kimmel Center wedding day was chosen to be featured in the inaugural issue. We also loved celebrating the launch with Modern Luxury Weddings’ Editor in Chief Alana Tosti, and we have much more from Alana below and on the blog! Not only were we featured in print, but we were also featured on the radio. Susan was on a recent episode of hearPhilly with Briana Bonds. Our Wedding Director talked all things weddings (of course!), and the episode is a must listen.

We’re styling, planning, and celebrating with our couples at the Union League, Stotesbury Mansion, Skytop Lodge, The Horticulture Center, Appleford Estate, a private home in Kennett Square, The Rodin Museum, The Bellevue, New Liberty Distillery, and The Ritz Carlton through October! Not only will you want to follow along to experience our late summer and early fall wedding season, but you will also want to make sure to stay tuned to the blog, Instagram Story Highlights, Instagram, and Facebook! The next few months have so much in store.

We hope you’re having a wonderful summer! Cheers to a few more warm weeks and a wonderful fall season! Until next time!

Real Wedding: We learned how powerful technology can truly be while planning Elisabeth and Ethan’s Horticulture Center wedding! E+E planned their wedding while living abroad in Taiwan, where Ethan is originally from, and we turned to Skype calls, photos, and lots of emails to explore everything on their wish list for their April 7, 2018 wedding.

High on their list was to welcome their guests to a fete set in Pennsylvania, where Elisabeth is from. Once introduced to The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center, Philadelphia became their dream destination! To kick off their wedding day, the pair got ready with their respective wedding parties at the Lokal Hotel. With plenty of space and an ideal location, it was the perfect place to start their day, plus their first look happened just outside of the hotel in Old City.

Once at the Horticulture Center, E+E were married inside in the greenhouse, and their reception was filled with bright florals from Devon & Pinkett, vintage pieces from Maggpie Vintage Rentals, and cupcake favors from Nutmeg Cake Design. Guests alternated between hopping in the Poser Photobooth and filling the dance floor thanks to Lovesick.

We hope to share much more from Elisabeth and Ethan’s wedding soon, especially because we adore all of the photos Pat Robinson Photography captured.

Now Trending:

We mentioned we’re so thrilled to have another wedding publication in Philadelphia, and that’s in large part due to Alana Tosti! Alana is the Editor in Chief of Modern Luxury Weddings Philadelphia, and we loved featuring her on our blog in the latest edition of Styled Day. Alana shared what the day-to-day is like as an EIC of a new magazine and much more! Have you read her post yet?

Q: Any insight for brides that want to do away with traditions?
A: Absolutely! Just because everyone had a wedding cake before you doesn’t mean you have to just because they did. Take something from it, maybe use your mom’s or grand-mom’s cake topper and add as a centerpiece to a dessert bar or have a mini cake for display and then pass miniature desserts to all your guests instead. You can use a piece of a tradition rather than the entire thing!

Around Town:

We’re drawn to details, so we enjoyed diving into our archives to revisit some of our favorite escort cards from past weddings for The Spruce. We’re featured with a host of other wedding professionals in a piece devoted to how to ask guests to take their seats. It’s a fun feature from a new-to-us brand (did you know The Spruce is tied to About.com?), and we hope you will take a look!
