When Julia and Evan got married in November, they had already recited their vows a few months prior in Greece. The couple opted for a small destination wedding in Santorini at Kapari Natural Resort – a resort housed in a luxurious setting dating back 300 years that overlooks the Aegean Sea. It sounds like a stunning setting for a wedding! Knowing all of their friends and family would not be able to attend, they planned to celebrate once more at the Barnes Foundation. Of course, their fete was inspired by Greece!
The night before their reception, Julia, Evan, and their families hosted a welcome dinner at Continental Midtown. We loved their gold balloons and the Mediterranean style menu! It was the perfect peek into what guests could expect to experience the following day.
Prior to kicking off their reception, Julia and Evan both spent the morning getting ready at The Logan – one of our favorite hotels located minutes away from the Barnes Foundation. Julia turned to Jason Matthew Salon for her hair, and Jazmin Rae for Aleksandra Ambrozy for her makeup. Julia, without a doubt, looked stunning!
Portraits with Asya Photography followed before guests were welcomed into the Barnes Foundation where the reception for 140 mirrored Greece. The water just outside of the Foundation was lit with a cool shade of blue reminiscent of the Aegean Sea from their Greece soiree, and greenery and white blooms adorned wooden tables to keep the palette neutral and natural just like Greece.
Rather than asking guests to take their seats for a plated dinner, passed hors d’oeuvres and stations with Mediterranean inspired fare, such as Milano by the Sea with charred calamari salad, baked lobster thermidor, and oysters on the half shell were enjoyed. Plus, J+E’s reception would not have been complete without their signature cocktails, a Lavender Lemonade Martini and Santorini Fizz.
Once Julia and Evan were welcomed onto the dance floor for their first dance, everyone joined in for the rest of the night thanks to East Coast Entertainment’s Kustom Made. The band came prepared with 15 pieces and a complete desire to jump on the dance floor with the couple. It was a sight to see and definitely one of the best bands we have experienced at a wedding!
The Logan welcomed Julia, Evan, and their friends and family back to their outdoor courtyard for an after party following their reception, and a post-wedding brunch at Parc kicked off the next morning.
We have no doubt Julia and Evan treated their guests to a memorable weekend, especially because we loved working with them as much as we loved watching them celebrate with those closest to them. Congratulations, J+E!
