The Styled Note – January 2018

Happy January to you! We hope your New Year is off to an exciting start, especially because it’s one of our favorite times of year – engagement season! This season tends to start around Thanksgiving, and we find it lasts well into February. We love the excitement exuding from newly engaged couples as they send us notes to inquire about planning their nuptials. If you’re one of the newest engaged pairs in Philadelphia (and beyond!), congratulations!

December marked a wonderful end to 2017. We celebrated the holidays as a team at Parc, which is a great location for a rehearsal dinner or even brunch with your bridesmaids, plus we all joined together with family throughout the month. We shared Pari and Tyler’s wonderful wedding video on Facebook. Cinema Cake never disappoints! The Philadelphia Inquirer was much fancier for a day as Shelley and Nick graced its pages for their wedding announcement!

Our 2018 is already off to a celebratory start because we’re putting the final touches on a soiree at the Museum of Jewish American History for this weekend. Plus, you will find us traveling to Maryland for a tasting with the Gourmet by the Bay team in St. Michaels. This month, we’re also catching up with our friend (and incredible caterer!), Max Hansen, as we plan a fete “under the big top” for next September. And, our month wouldn’t be complete without creative chats planned with Sullivan Owen, Chick Invitations, Starr Events and more for our upcoming spring couples.

With an event at the Horticulture Center, a feature in Philadelphia Wedding Magazine, a blog about Whipped Bakeshop, and more, you definitely will want to keep reading below.

Let’s get 2018 started!

Real Wedding:

We think one of the best times to visit the Jersey Shore is in the fall, especially when there’s a reason to celebrate! Gabby and Chris met years ago at Ocean City, New Jersey’s famed Aunt Betty’s Ice Cream Shack. With such a fun place to count as their meeting spot, G+C knew they wanted to celebrate in one of New Jersey’s beach towns. And, they could not have chosen a better location than The Reeds at Shelter Haven. The suites at The Reeds are so well appointed, and each one makes a wonderful location to spend the morning getting ready, which is exactly what Gabby and Chris did. They then hopped in separate cars with Stephanie and Brent, their photographer and videographer from Saltwater Studios, for their first look at the Wetlands Institute, and a ceremony at St Paul’s Catholic Church followed. Once they were officially Mr. and Mrs., the pair stepped away to the beach for portraits before rejoining their guests just in time for a sunset cocktail hour at The Reeds. Between the lovely flowers designed by Primrose at Everly, heartfelt speeches by family, and a packed dance floor thanks to EBE Entertainment, Gabby and Chris’s Shore soiree was one not to be missed!

Now Trending:

The Spring/Summer issue of Philadelphia Wedding Magazine is officially on newsstands, and we’re delighted to say we’re featured! When the editorial team asked us to style a welcome station, we started dreaming of a soft palette in shades of ivory, green, and blush, and immediately thought of drinks, like lemonade, fruit infused water, and more. Plus, we were able to team up with Maggpie Vintage Rentals for furniture and Carly is Inspired for flowers. We’re so grateful Emily Wren took such beautiful photos!

This month we ask, Zoe Lukas, Owner & Lead Designer at Whipped Bakeshop –  What do you love most about your job?
Zoe Lukas: Some of my favorite parts of the job are designing cakes and cookies and experimenting with new ways to work with icing and tools. I am a painter and artist first, and cake and cookies and all the ingredients that go along with that are my medium at Whipped Bakeshop.
Make sure to visit the blog for much more from Zoe in our Styled Day series!

Around Town:

It’s January, which means Love is in the Air is only a few days away! We still have tickets available for any of our 2018 couples who would like to attend, and we heard there’s still a few tickets available right here too. When Starr hosts an event, it’s simply not one to miss, especially when they’re welcoming guests to the Horticulture Center in Fairmount Park. Lovely Bride, Bella Bridesmaids, Sullivan Owen, Maggpie Vintage Furniture, The Papery and more will be joining us, and we hope to see you there too. The soiree will take place on Thursday, January 18.
