The Styled Note – July

Happy July to you! This month always feels like the very height of summer. Barbecues and backyard fetes are the best way to get together with friends and family, trips down the shore provide the perfect excuse for a day at the beach for a (slight) break from wedding planning, and the brightest, boldest colors are most certainly in style. Before we get too far into celebrating July, let’s take a quick look back at June.

June felt like it passed by in a very beautiful blur of celebrating, styling, and coordinating for our couples! We kicked off the month at the Morris House Hotel, which was also just featured in Philadelphia Wedding Magazine for a wedding we planned with Em and Meg. Between the quaint style and the beautiful outdoor garden space that’s perfect for intimate weddings, you feel as though you’ve been transported to the suburbs when you’re actually right in the middle of all of the action Philadelphia has to offer. We also hopped outside of the city for an elegant soiree with our friend Margaux St. Ledger of Fleur de Lis at the Merion Cricket Club. The florals were beautiful, and the bride and her bridesmaids could not have looked more stunning. Plus, we planned a tented BBQ wedding with Fette Sau at the Memorial Church of the Good Shepard, and we closed out the month with an incredible Indian celebration at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

Just like it will for you, July will bring a great mixture of city and shore to everyone on the Styled Bride Team! We’re already counting down to our wedding at the Barnes Foundation. The Barnes just began hosting weddings in their downtown Philadelphia space, and we’re thrilled to work with their team in just a few short weeks! We’re also in the middle of tying together all of the details for a lovely wedding in Cape May. This couple’s celebration will be held at a private home – one of our favorite details – and it will be wonderful to be so invested as our couple welcomes their family and friends to a place that holds such meaning for them.

Below, we’re sharing all of the details from Allie and Jeremy’s wedding, the city wedding venues you need to know about, the best way to explore Philadelphia this month (hint: it’s free!), and so much more. Make sure to keep following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest, and don’t miss our latest feature on Wedding Sparrow!

We hope you have a wonderful July!

Real Wedding:

We’re fortunate to have planned so many events in and around Philadelphia, and yet Allie and Jeremy’s wedding simply doesn’t compare to anything we have planned before! Allie started her day by getting ready at Hotel Monaco – one of our favorite hotels in the city. Janelle on Location provided hair and makeup, and it was wonderful to work with her again! After sharing a sweet first look, Allie and Jeremy recited their vows during a ceremony at Race Street Pier. The location right next to the Delaware River was fantastic, and the views of the Race Street Bridge above felt quintessentially Philadelphia! Post ceremony, A+J welcomed their guests to La Peg, which was conveniently located right across the street. Maggpie Vintage Rentals provided wonderful pieces that matched the couple’s modern, whimsical style, and we’re still dreaming of the flowers Love ‘n Fresh Flowers designed. Q: I’m planning a summer wedding. How can I best embrace the season and keep my guests cool?
A: Start with a bright color palette! Next, offer light refreshments (think: iced tea, lemonade, and cucumber water) right before your ceremony to keep guests hydrated. During your reception, set out lawn games for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour or even as an alternative to being on the dance floor. Finally, popsicles are perfect for a late-night treat!
