Philadelphia Wedding magazine is one of the most celebrated wedding magazines in the area. It’s filled with beautiful inspiration, on-point trend forecasts, stunning venues, and wonderful vendor recommendations. We love supporting such a formidable industry source, and today we’re thrilled to welcome Jill Asher to our Styled Day series!
Jill is the Manager of Wedding Sales & Marketing at Philadelphia Wedding magazine, and her days are spent planning print, digital, events, and strategic partnerships that will further the brand. She meets with area vendors, attends events, and is always in search of new information to keep the brand and readers in the know about Philadelphia. Below, she’s sharing all of the behind-the-scenes details from a day in her life and role at the magazine. Keep reading!
Working in the magazine industry, especially in the Wedding category, my days are truly never alike and I wouldn’t have it any other way! From sales strategy meetings to trudging through flower farms (see post by, my favorite, Jennie Love from Love N Fresh) and awing at gorgeous gowns, almost every day brings a new adventure and challenge.
I’m constantly excited and inspired by the stunning venues, talented caterers and bakers, skilled florists and passionate entrepreneurs I get to work and meet with. My days are filled with cakes, flowers, wedding dresses, invitations….and emails!
6:30-7am Wake up and make coffee (first and foremost!). Check email and usually make myself a smoothie or something to kick start my day. I’ve recently moved into a beautiful old brownstone in Center City, which is luckily only a few blocks away from my office.
8:30am I typically walk to my office to catch up from meetings the day before and pick up anything I need for my day. Email, email, email. While browsing Wedding blogs (starting with phillymag.com/Wedding, of course) and catching up on the daily news.
The rest of my morning consists of heading to coffee meetings or visiting Wedding industry professionals. Today, I’m going to a walk-through of the Free Library with Brûlée Catering, followed by a visit to the talented and lovely Flowers & Co.!
12-1pm: Lunch time! If I’m not meeting with a client or prospective client, you can find me with a packed lunch glued to my lap top. Otherwise, I’ll be at Parc. If I could have lunch meetings there every day, I would.
This particular day, I’m in Manayunk checking in with a few of my Wedding clients. First stop, touring a brand new bridal store and then grabbing lunch with a local event planner and popping into a bakery down the street.
2-5pm: The second half of my day is, again, spent back on the road visiting more clients. I love going onsite to get the behind the scenes ‘inside’ look into everything that goes into running the businesses I work with—big or small. Most days I’m either on the road or back at my desk planning, organizing and setting up meetings for the following day.
Today, I’m in the office getting ready for our next Wedding issue launch party celebrating the Fall/Winter season.
6 pm: We often have evening events or work dinners throughout the week as well.
Tonight, I’m lucky enough to be seated amongst colleagues and clients enjoying Philly’s intimate kitchen-classroom, COOK. I love checking out new restaurants/chefs and Philly is the perfect place be! The experience at COOK is truly like non other.
9 pm: Back to my apartment, checking email and getting ready to do it all over again tomorrow!
